Alila – The best luxury resort in Seminyak
Coming from a world-wide chain of luxury resorts, from the moment we walked into the lobby we were not only greeted with the refreshing sight and sound of the ocean crashing onto the sand stretched ahead of us, but delighted with the first class luxury service you would expect from the Alila brand.
Following a welcome drink and snack (and after testing out all the Alila signature beauty products like face mist, moisturiser and sunscreen provided to us as part of the check in process), we were ushered through our check-in seamlessly and efficiently.
Throughout our entire stay, the service was professional and friendly, and perfectly attentive yet un-intrusive.
Bringing The Outside In
A truly unique feature of this resort is the way in which they have embraced the ocean in every aspect. In fact it’s located so close to the beach, the only thing separating the main resort building and the beach is a small stretch of palm tree lined lawn, a choice of stunning serenity pools and the fabulous beach front bar. The lobby and the corridors are open air with ceilings, but no enclosed walls – inviting in the sounds, smell and sight of the crashing waves at every opportunity.
No matter where we ventured, the beach and the ocean were always a feature. The sea was always in sight from our room, the restaurant, our complimentary morning yoga session, the beachfront bar and any one of the five resort pools. This resort truly blends the outside with the inside and they even have plans to vegetate the exterior roofs so everywhere you turn will be gorgeously green.
Soaking up the sun
The pools are lined with luxury sun loungers and umbrellas, and from the moment you sit down, you are given a beach towel, bottled water, and complimentary snacks and drinks. We were offered fresh coconut water and mango popsicles and there is always a dedicated staff member at each of the pools ready to take your drink and food orders.
Dining
Dining options at Alila are absolutely fantastic, arguably another stand-out feature of this resort. It is certainly up there with one of the best culinary experiences we had in Bali. If you over indulge you can always visit the well-resourced gymnasium to work it off while still not missing the cleansing views of the crashing waves.
Another great aspect of this resort is the intimate kids club, where your children can partake in fun activities like surfing lessons or cooking classes.
This resort has a very cool, yet chilled beachfront bar. Sipping cocktails from the infinity pool taking in the famous Seminyak sunset was certainly one of the highlights of our time in Bali. The Alila is actually located next door to the super cool Potato Head beach club, which we had every intention of visiting on our girls trip away.
However, at every opportunity we opted to stay put at Alila, as the groovy, blissed out vibe that they had created raised the bar of our Bali experience and we really felt no need to leave. That is, except to hit the busy streets of Seminyak for a bit of shopping, which has a great mix of your traditional Bali bargains, along with an endless string of designer brand boutiques you’ll recognise from home.
After a few hours of the hustle and bustle of Seminyak, it was such a welcome relief to come back in to our beachfront luxury resort to cold towels, fresh iced water and that pampering service that allowed us to relax and unwind.
We will definitely be returning to this ultra-chic, contemporary beach front oasis that is Alila Seminyak.
