January 2016
It’s hard to know where to start because in all our world travels so far we have not experienced such an incredible luxury hotel suitably set up for families travelling with children of all ages. The Four Seasons in Singapore not only met but exceeded our expectations.
We organised The Four Seasons to pick us up from Changi Airport after a beautifully spacious 8 hour flight from Sydney on Singapore Airlines A380. As soon as we cleared customs we were met by a Four Seasons representative holding an ipad with our names on it. We followed her 100m to a waiting air conditioned van and the driver handed our two young children cold juice poppers with their names and a welcome message printed on them and water for everyone else.
We pulled into the driveway of the Four Seasons Singapore and on our way out of the van we were greeted by name and with huge smiles. We completed our check-in process in a private luxury lounge area which was very fast and within minutes we were personally escorted to our rooms where our luggage was already waiting. Our porter took the time to show us how everything worked and where the hairdryer was (very important with two teenage girls ha ha!) and we were delighted to see that the children had been left a thoughtful welcome treat of cookies and juice.
We elected to book the lead-in room because they had the option to interconnect depending on availability and it was absolutely perfect. The king-sized beds were some of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in (we love a pillow-top bed and these were just perfect). Our young boys had a rollaway bed each and there was plenty of room still for luggage in the rooms. Luckily we were allocated an interconnecting room and between the two rooms there was more than enough space for our family of 6. The two bathrooms were beautiful and large with double marble basins in each one. Each bathroom also had an enormous bath and there was a bottle of baby body wash and shampoo next to each bath – it’s these touches that families travelling with children really appreciate.
For parents who like to exercise on holiday the gym is here is one of the best I have seen. It contains a huge variety of equipment, lots of pin weight machines, fit balls, cardio equipment as well as complimentary towels, water and headphones (which was awesome as I didn’t bring any with me).
Adjacent to the fitness centre is an outdoor pool and then upstairs is another pool more geared towards families with a hot spa and plenty of plush daybeds.
When we first arrived at the pool we were happily surprised to see lots of pool toys and floating devices as well as a basket of all different kinds of sunscreens for guest’s use. We had only sat down a moment on one of the daybeds when a lovely attendant brought us icy cold towels (so nice in the hot Singapore sun!) and iced water for everyone. About 10 minutes later she came around again with a cooler bag full of frozen fruit ice blocks for everyone – I mean, wow! This is service that goes above and beyond! Just when we were reflecting how fantastic the service was our lovely attendant AGAIN came around to offer me complimentary magazines to read and Aloe Vera lotion for our bodies as well as cooling facial mist! You have got to be kidding us! This was just an example of the incredible service we received at the Four Seasons Singapore and now that we know what is possible, it’s going to be very hard for other hotels to match that level of service.
We have certainly found the best place for families to stay in Singapore. The location is very convenient for shopping with ION Orchard just around the corner and the Four Seasons Day Spa can soothe those tired feet after a long day pounding the pavement. If you’re travelling with your children to Singapore, do yourself a favour and stop researching where to stay, you have found the ideal place at The Four Seasons Singapore.
