Uluwatu Bali – The Grand Cliff Front Residence

The Villa

We knew we had arrived somewhere very special when the villa doors swung open and we were met with cold glasses of watermelon punch and were ushered through the enormous light filled foyer and through to the outdoor entertaining area…and that drop dead gorgeous view!!!!

When selecting a bedroom to sleep in we were spoilt for choice as the Grand Cliff-Front Beach Residence consists of five huge bedrooms, all with that capitaviting ocean vista.

The View

The water below is a stunning crystal clear expanse of aqua and jade waters and just mesmerises you all day long. When the tide is low the water seems to glow like a highlighter pen and you can easily see straight through to the ocean floor.  We travelled with our three children, aged 15, 11 and 5 who also loved everything about this villa. It’s huge so there’s enough space for everyone (it would be perfect for a big group of friends to stay or a multi-generational family get-together).

The villa is fully staffed and the chef can cook any sort of meal you like in the villa. We loved his Nasi Goreng and delicious breakfast spread especially.

Each day beds were made swiftly and out of our sight as well as bathrooms cleaned and linen replaced, we didn’t even realise staff had done this as they do so very quietly and unobtrusively. It’s the little personal touches like this that makes you feel like you are in the lap of luxury.

The staff arranged for a team of masseuses to come to the villa and every member of the family (even Mr 5!) enjoyed a blissful one hour massage outside on the daybeds listening to the gentle crashing waves from the ocean below.

Every single room in the villa has a breathtaking view of the ocean and it’s truly the most stunning view we have ever enjoyed anywhere in Bali. Our bedrooms came with fantastic wardrobe space and flat screen TVs making it the perfect spot to unpack fully and enjoy and extended stay.

We loved the piping-hot cliff-front jacuzzi which bubbled away invitingly 24 hours a day, a cold glass of Moet in the spa after a day spent at the adjoining beach Day Club was bliss.

As a guest of Grand Cliff Front Residence you can use all the facilities (gym, spa, beach club, kids club, restaurant) of the resort it is located in and then retreat back into your private mansion away from the crowds feeling like you are on top of the world (quite literally!).

My favourite thing

I really loved all the outdoor entertaining space on various levels which meant that each member of the family could easily find some peace and quiet with only the beautiful sounds of the waves below interrupting the silence.

The covered outdoor lounge area was the spot to find hubby at 5pm each day, with a cold beer in hand, mesmerised again by that view. I know I’m mentioning the view a lot but it really is a jaw-dropping part of Bali and definitely the best view we’ve seen on the island.

The children’s top picks

Our children especially loved the infinity pool (and the glass wall so you could see into the interior of pool from one of the bedrooms!

The window into the pool made for some fabulous photos! The cosy movie theatre was a huge hit too (they supply a tonne of DVDs for you to create the perfect movie night).  My husband and eleven year old enjoyed their daily father/son billiards tournament with the pool table in the top level of the villa.

We will return many times over to the Grand Cliff Front Residence Bali and are so pleased we found out about this five star luxury slice of paradise in Uluwatu.
